Saathi means 'together-ness' in Hindi, an appropriate name for a dedicated NGO started in the late 1980s to help potters and other craftspeople in the remote tribal district of Bastar.

Ceramics specialist Bhupesh Tiwari and his small team near the small market town of Kondagaon in North Bastar have spent years building mutual trust with the local people, seeking to harness and train local artisan skills so that an important means of livelihood does not die out but can flourish to the primary benefit of the workers themselves.

Working in terra-cotta, wood, bell metal and wrought iron,
Saathi is helping to bring traditional talents to the modern marketplace with innovative design.
